Announcements: posting, scheduling, and repeats
Announcements are your ecclesia’s noticeboard — the Sunday notices, a working-bee call, a change to the hall booking. A post lands on every member’s Home feed and in their in-app inbox, and — if you ask for it — sends a notification to their phone.
Coordinators and administrators post and manage them; everyone reads them. You can publish now, schedule a post for later, or set it to repeat as a series.
Reading time: about four minutes.
Write a post
Open Announcements from the top navigation and choose New post. Give it a title and write the body — the toolbar gives you bold, headings, lists and links, so a longer notice stays readable.
Not ready? Save draft keeps it out of sight (only coordinators and administrators see drafts) so you can finish it later. A draft can be a title only — publishing is what needs a body.
Publish now, or schedule it for later
Under When to publish, leave it on When I publish and use the Publish button to post straight away. Or choose Schedule for a time, pick a date and time, and Schedule — the post is saved as a draft and goes live automatically at that moment (within about a minute). It shows in your list as Scheduled until then; members see nothing until it publishes.
Repeat it as a series
For a standing notice — a weekly reminder, a monthly newsletter — set Repeat to Weekly, Fortnightly or Monthly. Each repeat is posted as a brand-new announcementwith its own read state and its own notification, so members see a fresh item each time rather than an old one bubbling up. Set an Until date to stop the series, or leave it blank to run indefinitely.
Editing the original post changes what future repeats carry; posts already sent stay as they were. To end a series, open the post and set Repeat back to Does not repeat — the copies already posted remain.
A post that carries a survey can’t repeat (a survey collects one set of answers), so the Repeat control is switched off while a survey is attached.
Notify members — or don't
Tick Notify members to send a notification (in-app and to the mobile apps) when the post publishes — for a scheduled post that is the scheduled moment, and for a series it fires on every repeat. Leave it unticked for a quiet notice that simply appears on Home. Either way the post lands on Home and in the inbox; notifying only adds the ping.
Members who find announcement pings too much can turn just those off under My profile › Notification settings › Announcements (“Announcement alerts”). That silences only the push — the post still appears on their Home page and in their inbox, so nothing is missed.
Add a banner, attachments, or a survey
Once a post is saved, you can attach files (images, a PDF), choose which image heads the post as its banner and where the crop centres, and attach a survey to collect responses. Attachments share your ecclesia’s storage allowance with Resources. For surveys, see the Surveys guide.
Expires (optional): set a date and the post drops off members’ Home automatically once it passes — handy for a notice that stops being relevant.
Manage what you've posted
The Announcements list is your control panel. Badges tell you a post’s state at a glance: Draft, Scheduled (with when it goes live), Repeats (with the next repost date), and — on a copy a series produced — Reposted. Open any post to edit it, change its schedule or repeat, or delete it.
Members see only published posts, newest first, and a small Reposted hint on a series copy so a familiar notice doesn’t read as a mistake.
